Beschreibung
The principal objective of the programme is to improve the access to energy from renewable energy sources primarily for own usage. In the future, the grid emission of the generated electricity is planned. Besides grid connected photovoltaic systems, primarily solar rooftops, off-grid systems to generate electricity from solar energy but also other renewable energy projects such as biogas and biomass shall be financed.Overall, the programme therefore contributes to an economically, ecologically and socially sustainable energy supply and usage of energy in Bangladesh. The target group of the program consists of enterprises and investors as well as Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and other user groups in the areas of Bangladesh that are not yet or inadequately connected to the electricity grid. In the case of grid emission of the generated electricity all end users of the electricity supply system will profit.Project Executing Agency is the public Infrastructure Development Company Ltd. (IDCOL). IDCOL has been a long-standing implementation partner of the German development cooperation. Within the programme, the individual projects will be financed by IDCOL while the German contribution serves as refinancing. The borrower of the loan will be the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh represented by the Ministry of Finance. The total cost of the programme is estimated at an amount equal to approximately EUR 193 million. In total up to EUR 70 million will be made available by the German Financial Cooperation (FC) to the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. EUR 60 Million of this contribution will be provided as a reduced interest loan. Furthermore, German FC provides grant funds of EUR 8.5 million, in particular to support the investment in decentral energy generation Projects. Grant funds of EUR 1.5 million for an accompanying measure complete the financing structure.
